Mayweather vs De La Hoya
The rematch of the century is looming and the world is waiting. Although the deal isn’t quite final, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer says it’s close to being done. With their first fight breaking all Pay-Per-View records, the rematch promises to do the same. Schaefer says that the rematch will be held on either September 13th or 20th on HBO PPV. Schaefer is holding those dates at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles.
The magnitude of this fight has attracted the attention of a number of other venues including the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and Dodger Stadium. The first meeting of the two saw Mayweather winning a split decision to take De La Hoya’s junior middleweight title on May 5th 2007 at the MGM Grand. The question remains, can boxing’s greatest attraction take his title back from the #1 fighter in the world? The sports world is certainly waiting.
Advance tickets are available and easy to get, don’t miss out! So if you’ve got the cash to go, get your Oscar De La Hoya vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. tickets today, I’d love to be there for the festivities for the whole week.
With speculation of De La Hoya’s looming retirement, Mayweather is his most lucrative opponent. Add that to the recent mainstream exposure with Mayweather’s recent appearances on Dancing With The Stars and World Wrestling Entertainment’s Wrestlemania witch saw Maywether take down the 7 foot, 450 lb Paul “Big Show” Wight. Mayweather has also expressed interest in crossing over to the world of mixed martial arts.
Before either fighter decides to leave boxing, this is a must see fight. Sure you could sit at home and watch the fight on pay per view, but nothing matches the excitement of being at the arena to see it live. No commentator can match the electricity of being a part of the live audience. After it’s all over and the best man wins, there’s nothing like knowing that you were there to witness history.
